The 46th Annual Muscatine CROP Hunger walk will be held on Sunday, October 1 at 2 PM by the Pearl City Station on Muscatine’s Riverfront. The Church World Service CROP Hunger Walk events raise funds and awareness to stop hunger both locally and globally. A portion of the funds raised from the Muscatine CROP Hunger Walk are donated directly to the Muscatine Community Food Pantry and the Bag of Blessing program. Everyone’s support is needed to join Muscatine congregations in this year’s CROP Walk event by donating, participating in a CROP Walk fundraiser, sponsoring a walker, coming to the CROP Walk kick-off prior to the walk, and/or joining the group for any part of the walk. There are two CROP Walk fundraisers scheduled this year. Muscatine Hy-Vee will be participating in Shop & Share on September 25, 26 and 27. Coupons for the Shop and Share days are available at Zion. There will also be a CROP Walk fundraiser at the Missippi Brew on Tuesday, September 26 from 5 PM to 10 PM. 20% of all food and beverage sales during this family-friendly event will be donated to the Muscatine CROP Walk. Many thanks go to Vicar Kyle for creating our Muscatine CROP Walk Facebook page which will allow people to share the details of this year’s walk with their friends on Facebook. Everyone’s support is particularly important this year. Matching funds the CROP Walk had received in prior years are no longer available, but the number of those in need continues to grow. To donate or sign-up to walk, please see a Social Ministry Committee member at a table following Sunday morning services on September 10, 17 and 24, and October 1. You can also donate or sign up to walk online at https://www.crophungerwalk.org/muscatineia.
