Zion Lutheran Church Vision Statement

Graciously Called, Graciously Sent

In Holy Baptism our gracious heavenly Father liberates us...

At the deepest level, it is a gracious call to action.

In the waters of Baptism we are reborn children of God and inheritors of eternal life.

Baptism is a call to live.  A call to BE a child of God and to respond to God's call.

By water and the Holy Spirit we are made members of the Church which is the body of Christ.

As we respond to God's call, we enter a continual stream of losing and finding ourselves; it is our vocation.  We are graciously called into a community of faith and supported there by God and one another.

By water and the Holy Spirit we are made members of the Church which is the body of Christ.

No matter how God calls, whether explosively or gently, the response has to be worked out in daily life.  We are graciously called to follow Jesus in all that we do.

As we live with him and with his people, we grow in faith, love, and obedience to the will of God.

God's guidance may not always be clear and direct but it is nonetheless with us.  We are graciously called while we are simultaneously being graciously sent.  It is our call to action.  Together as God's people, through prayer, study, and reflection, we explore what this means to us.

Our call graciously sends us to live among God's faithful people, to hear his Word and share in his supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through his word and deed, to serve all people following the example of our Lord Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.

Our call to action is a journey that includes the promise that God will be with us.  It can be a long journey but we have been graciously called and graciously sent and empowered by sharing of this journey with all of God's people.
