They say that time flies when you are having fun, and let me tell you that statement is for sure true. My time at UNI has come to a close and I am excited to be graduating this coming May with my degree in Leisure, Youth, and Human Services. This area of study has many components that fall under the title: Youth Development, Non-Profit Management, and Recreation Services, just to name a few. I have developed a strong passion about this field, so I would love to talk with you about it more. However, to officially complete my program of study, I need to complete a 14-week internship, Zion has graciously allowed me to fulfill this requirement during the summer with all of you, from May 9th – August 15th. Please note that this is not the same as the pastoral internship that you are all familiar with. My focus will mostly be with the youth and internal polices and procedures. I will work alongside Stacey to help with summer youth activities as well as plan and vision for the future. My work will mostly be for internal use within the youth group and the church with risk management: polices and procedures. This will include creating a handbook with all this information that will remain in the office for anyone to access. My other fun little project will be planning and organization a community outreach event that will take place early fall, with more details to come when they are available. It is hard to really explain everything that will go into this internship and what exactly I will be doing in a short write up. I would be happy to share more with you so please feel free to reach out to me. I will be in the church office daily during May 9th – August 15th. So please feel free to stop by and chat and see what I am up to.
Thank you, Tyler Baars
