What We’re All About
If you spend enough time around Zion, you will most likely hear the happy voices as they express who we are as a community of faith in Jesus Christ. “Zion Lutheran Church is all about Faith, Family, and Community.”
You can find out the story of who we are, why we are, and what we are up to in Muscatine with that simple phrase. What this phrase means to us is that we are people who follow Jesus with our whole hearts and lives.
Jesus says in the Bible that the most significant commandment in all of scripture is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your strength. The second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself.”
This simple creed of faith, of loving God and loving others has the power to transform our lives. It reminds us that we are defined by merely what we accomplish, what we have, or even by how much frustration and broken in our lives.
We are defined by the reality that the Creator of Heaven and Earth loves all of Creation, and it is God’s will that we echo God’s love toward all people. In other words, we are a people who follow Jesus and His message of grace in the gospel.
So what is the story of Zion? Merely this – We are a broken people who believe that God loves us genuinely and through God’s love we are whole, and His love enables us to enjoy others just as deeply.
We echo Christ’s invitation to you to “Come and See” what life in the Spirit of God can be like through an intentional community of faith.
Wherever you are in your faith journey, Zion is a community of people where you can practice your faith in Christ and use the gifts God has given you to serve all people.
